Frankly Thai in Franklin Square, NY
After a very long and busy week Dave and I decided to go out on a much needed date night. While my mom watched the boys we quietly slipped out ( ok it was more of a sprint to the door). Don’t get me wrong I love my boys very much but sometimes you just need to get out! Anyway, we were in the mood for green curry and there was this little neighborhood thai restaurant that we’ve been wanting to try for the longest called Frankly Thai. Dave and I pass it all the time while driving down the road. This restaurant is rated 5 stars as well as receiving the “Best on Long Island” award so we decided to finally check it out.
Frankly Thai is located at 959 Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square, NY and owned by Frankie and Jin who are the cutest husband and wife team. There is a large parking lot conveniently located in the back with plenty of space. This is a picture of Frankie and Jin during a taping of Restaurant Hunter, a show that features the best restaurants on Long Island. When Dave and I walked into Frankly Thai Saturday night Frankie was manning the bar while Jin was walking around greeting the guests. It was so awesome to see them come out and talk to everyone. You would think we were all one big family. We entered through their back entrance and were instantly hit with the most amazing smelling food. Right then and there were knew it was going to be a good night. The hostess seated us right away and we were greeted by the sweetest waiter.
After looking through their menu, which had a lot of great choices, we decided to try their Thai Dumplings for an appetizer. This is a picture of them above. They were so delicious. You can tell the ingredients were fresh. They came with this little bowl of sauce which just gave these dumplings an incredible amount of flavor. I’m not sure what the sauce was made with but simply delicious!
Dave and I then ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice and the “Duck Entree” which is a delicious crispy roasted duck in the most amazing green curry sauce. The sauce had a little bit of a kick to it but holy moly it was so good! We have had curry many times before and this one here at Frankly Thai has to be hands down the best one we have ever had. The pineapple fried rice was really good also. It complimented the curry dish beautifully.
For dessert we decided on the Thai Fried Ice Cream topped with a warm raspberry sauce. Oh my goodness it was the perfect end to an incredibly delicious meal! Frankly Thai is truly a hidden gem on Long Island. The prices are reasonable, the staff from hostess to owners are all so welcoming, and the food is genuinely out of this world delicious. Dave and I can’t wait to come back and try something else from the menu! Thank you Frankie and Jin for a wonderful experience!
